Pebble, one of the unforgettable brands in the smartwatch market, has broken its silence after a long hiatus. The new Pebble Time 2, unveiled by founder Eric Migicovsky in a 15-minute YouTube video, combines modern technology with the brand’s iconic features. This return is aimed specifically at users tired of charging and seeking a simple experience.
Pebble Time 2 Stands Out with Its Features
Two key features that distinguish Pebble from its competitors also play a key role in the new model. The Pebble Time 2 features a 1.5-inch LED-backlit e-paper display with 64-color support. Thanks to this technology, the watch offers an incredible battery life of up to 30 days on a single full charge. This means users will only need to remember the charging cable once a month.
The Pebble Time 2 stands out not only for its features but also for its design. Its square-shaped dial is surrounded by a new aluminum frame, making it quite stylish. The watch, with its matte finish, will be compatible with standard 22mm straps and will be available in four different color options. The physical control buttons on the sides maintain Pebble’s practicality compared to touchscreens.
The device also includes the health tracking features expected from a modern smartwatch:
- Heart rate sensor
- Sleep tracking
- Step counter
The Pebble Time 2 also features features such as a built-in speaker, a linear vibration motor for notifications, and water resistance.
The Pebble Time 2’s return hasn’t yet been confirmed. However, initial pricing information has been released. The Pebble Time 2 is expected to retail for approximately $225. The more affordable Pebble 2 Duo is expected to be available for $149.
Pebble’s move could spark a new era in the smartwatch market, prioritizing battery life and simplicity.
